Since opening its first location in Washington, D.C., in 2018, Call Your Mother has built a loyal following by reimagining the traditional Jewish deli through a fresh, modern lens. Founded by Andrew Dana, Chef Daniela Moreira, and Jeff Zients, the concept blends classic deli favorites with contemporary flavors, creating what the team affectionately calls a “Jew-ish” deli—welcoming everyone while honoring time-honored traditions. Nearly everything is made in-house, with an emphasis on quality ingredients, handcrafted bagels, and a menu that balances nostalgia with creativity.

The Gainesville location continues that philosophy. Rather than simply replicating previous stores, every Call Your Mother restaurant is designed to have its own personality while remaining unmistakably part of the brand. Its philosophy centers on creating welcoming neighborhood spaces where great food is paired with genuine hospitality. That same people-first mindset extends behind the scenes. Rather than completely gutting the former restaurant space, the team preserved much of the existing infrastructure, reducing waste while keeping construction costs in check. This thoughtful approach reflects a philosophy of designing responsibly without sacrificing creativity.

Inside, guests immediately recognize the brand’s signature aesthetic—bright colors, playful graphics, and an atmosphere that feels energetic without being overwhelming. The familiar pink-and-teal palette ties the Gainesville location to the broader Call Your Mother family while allowing it to establish its own identity.
